Summer Time... Finally - bring on Stampede!!!

Summer... I was beginning to wonder if it would ever come. It sounds like its been a common complaint around Canada this year, but it finally appears to have arrived. With summer comes a crazy schedule of Live performances, Production of the New Bobby Wills project and hopefully some days with the Family. It's a balancing act to say the least, but somehow we manage...

First weekend of July marks the first summer dates with two Corporate shows on the 1st and 2nd. Private parties are some of my favourite gigs because they have a much more intimate feel than the big stages, a real chance to interact with the audience and hopefully make some new fans. From there we jump full force into the craziness of Stampede.. On thursday the 7th we kick off the party at Cowboys Downtown at there new location at the Cowboys Casino right beside the round up centre. The Tent is, as we speak, being staged and I am told will have a capacity of around 5000.... On the 9th of July we will be headlining a show at the Century Casino.. A great venue to come dance and kick Stampede off. On wednesday the 13th we are at Fats Bar and Grill in Kensington.... We finish Stampede off back where we Started at Cowboys on Friday the 15th!!! ALong with these public shows the boys and I will be running from Corporate show to corporate show so it promises to be a busy, but exciting week... I hope you all can make a show!!!

Thats the first two weeks of July for you, then things start to get Busy!!!!!

Exciting times

2011 is underway and with spring around the corner (ok a little optimistic) things are getting busy fast!!!! In a couple weeks I will be on my way to Vail Colorado which I am extremely excited about for a number of reasons... First off I have never been.... while mountains are nothing new being raised in the Rockies, Vail is supposed to be one of the best Ski/Mountain destinations in North America, if not the world.. more importantly I am being joined in Vail by my good friend, Hit songwriter and producer Mike Pyle and Hit songwriter (understatement) Producer etc... Walt Aldridge. These two guys have so much Talent that its hard to even explain... suffice it to say I will happily be the "weakest link" in the room throughout our writing sessions. (I am hopeful that I can maybe be the talent on the Hill, however that remains to be seen!!!). Then when we get home we will begin work on the Album. April through summer are starting to fill up with live dates... So excited to get out and play!!!! My wife and I will be in Vegas for the awards show again this year and Hopefully I will get to take her somewhere tropical shortly after.... Lord knows she deserves it puttin' up with my hectic schedule! (yes Honey I know that Nashville does not qualify as Tropical) Then the summer Run followed by Canadian Country Music Week in September. So Busy is probably an understatement!!!

The current single is at Radio Now "Man with No Past" so please take a moment and request it at your local radio station. Its a song that we are very proud of. I wrote the song with Nashville heavyweights (and great guys!!) Wade Kirby and Michael White, and am so excited to have it Out there!!!!

Well 2011 is officially underway for Us!!!! This weekend we played the first 3 shows of the year!!! It was a lot of fun to play with the new Band (Rick, Nic and Iggy) and get a chance to work some of the kinks out. Whenever you start out playing with a new group of guys it can be pretty interesting...Fortunately for Me these guys came prepared, were proffessional and a lot of fun to be on stage with. Ubnfortunately for them by show #3 I had completey lost my voice... It was a little rough but they carried the shows and we got through. Our next show is at the Grey Eagle Casino in Calgary this coming Thursday (one night) so hopefully Im back to 100% by then.

We just released "Man with No Past" to country Radio in Canada. we chose it because it shows a different side to what we do as well as showcases our songwriting... Hopefully radio embraces it!! The first two singles were received with very positive feedback from programmers across the country so hopefully this one continues to see the growth the previous two showed...

As for Songwriting etc, I am really excited about 2011.. In early March I will be going to Vail Colorado for a week to work with my favourite co - writer and amazing guy, Mike Pyle, along with Song Writer Walt Aldridge. I have not met Walt as of yet but am really excited to get the opportunity to write with him and Mike... Its humbling to say the least to get to work with the talent both these fellows have.. I am extremely confident that we will leave Colorado with some great songs as well as a few laughs!!!

So everything is underway for 2011... Hope too see you out on the road this year!!!!!

Nashville Dec 2010

Back From Nashville yet again... It seems like the more I go the more I find in common with it. People think its a "MUSIC THING" and I suppose thats a part of it, but really its a people thing. I love living in Calgary... But it is really becoming very BIG CITY... I miss the small town sensibility it had not to long ago.... Thats what I think I like about Nashville so much.

The meetings this trip were highly successful and leave me very excited for the near future...Nothing in writing yet but we're close to our step 1 Goal!!!! What struck me most this time around is how tough things are getting in Nashville... Hearing stories of Songwriters I idolize falling on hard times... A&R reps losing there jobs.... Hopefully 2011 will bring with it good news and better business for the publishing community in 2011.

Well its time to do some Christmas shopping and focus on family for the balance of the year...
